Enterprise infrastructure
Designing, supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft-based enterprise environments where reliability, standardisation, security and change control matter.
PatchAudit is a Canberra-based managed patching and endpoint protection service founded by Rob Kirk.
It grew from years of working with enterprise infrastructure and seeing the same problem repeatedly: having tools capable of deploying patches is one thing; knowing every endpoint is actually patched, protected and accounted for is another.
My background is in enterprise ICT infrastructure, with a particular focus on Microsoft platforms, endpoint management, automation and the operational side of keeping complex environments reliable and secure.
Over more than 25 years in enterprise ICT, I've worked across environments where patching isn't simply a matter of clicking “update”. There are maintenance windows, application dependencies, remote devices, failed installations, exceptions, security requirements and the constant need to verify that the work has actually been completed.
That experience is the basis for PatchAudit.
I wanted to create a focused service for organisations that don't need another broad IT outsourcing agreement, but do need someone to take ownership of patch operations and endpoint protection — continuously, predictably and with clear evidence of what has been done.

Designing, supporting and troubleshooting Microsoft-based enterprise environments where reliability, standardisation, security and change control matter.
Managing Windows endpoints, operating system configuration, software deployment, patching and compliance across distributed environments.
Replacing repetitive operational work with predictable, auditable automation — while keeping people involved where exceptions, failures or business impact require judgement.
Working in environments where access control, operational assurance, security controls and evidence of compliance are part of normal ICT operations rather than an afterthought.
Modern endpoint-management platforms are extremely capable.
The problem is that owning a capable tool doesn't mean somebody is consistently maintaining its policies, watching for failures, investigating exceptions and verifying the result.
That is particularly difficult for smaller organisations. They may have 20, 50 or 150 computers — enough endpoints for patching and endpoint protection to matter, but nowhere near enough to justify employing a specialist just to manage them.
PatchAudit is intended to fill that gap.
It takes a narrow set of jobs that need to happen continuously — assess, patch, verify, protect and report — and operates them as a managed service.
The goal isn't to become your outsourced IT department.
PatchAudit isn't a general-purpose MSP.
We don't manage your printers, Microsoft 365 accounts, Wi-Fi, helpdesk tickets or business applications. If you already have internal IT or an MSP, PatchAudit is designed to operate alongside them.
Our scope is deliberately narrower:
Patch. Verify. Protect. Report.
A focused scope makes the service easier to automate, easier to measure and easier for customers to understand exactly what they're paying for.
PatchAudit is an Australian-operated specialist service based in Canberra.
When you contact PatchAudit, you're dealing directly with the person responsible for the service. There aren't layers of account management between the customer and the technical work being performed.
The underlying technologies used for endpoint management and threat detection are established commercial platforms. PatchAudit's role is to configure, operate, monitor and report on those services for customers.
As PatchAudit grows, the principle stays the same: clear ownership, defined scope and evidence of what has been done.
If you're responsible for a small or medium-sized environment and want to know whether PatchAudit would fit alongside what you already have, tell me roughly what you're running.
I'll tell you whether it's a good fit — and if it isn't, I'll tell you that too.
